I've also had the problem of being off by one word too. It usually happens when I start to really get into the groove of things and just make one little mistake. I'm thinking of changing it so that if you don't type the correct word, it'll block on that word (without clearing out your inputted text) until you've typed the correct word. My other thought was to make it go character by character, but I like the idea of letting the user backspace to fix a word (so it doesn't hurt there total "Words Correct" count). Or at least don't have it count against you. I went three times getting almost every word wrong before I realized it was because I was typing the punctuation, which threw off the "which word is she on" results.
